The hotel itself probably was grand at some point in time, but I had a corner suite on the third floor and the best thing about the room was the bathroom which was new and clean But I was here on business alone and ladies if you're doing the same and you're not how shall i say someone with a broad outlook on life, dont go in the bar I was meeting a friend for a drink in the bar and went downstairs for a drink only to find what I can best describe what looked like speedating with no men I found the room expensive for what it was although if you're going to pay for a corner suite, ask I found the room expensive for what it was although if you're going to pay for a corner suite, ask for the 2nd floor as they've been refurbed More.
This hotel does not live up to its name. The bedroom doors are padded, the lifts were installed in the middle ages and the rooms are small and very simple. No shower just a mixer attached to the taps. It was clean and has a bar at ground floor which is friendly although the staff are a bit stiff. Late night drinking with local company is available. The breakfast room is down a long corridor and they have plants set in the floor which you can easily fall into.
I did. The spread at breakfast was not extensive. A dissapointing experience in a lovely city. And at Euro a night its not good value either. We have just returned from Brno last week and we had a superb stag weekend. We chose to stay at the grandhotel brno which is right in the centre of the city and close to all the pubs and restaurants. There were 25 of us on the stag do and everyone came back raving about the place.
We chose to stay in the Grandhotel after negotiating the price down from their extortionate normal rates. We were all given single rooms and they were all clean and comfortable. Everything you would normally expect.
The hotel staff were very nice and spoke very good english. This helped a lot during check in. The hotel also has a casino in it and this is where most of the guys spent their money. Although many of them did actually win quite a bit of cash as well. We ate in the hotel restaurant on the first evening. It was an ok meal but compared to some of the other places we went later in the weekend it wasnt the best. The local brew is Starobrno and it is excellent.
