It was a time when mores, morals and modesty changed inexorably.
Pornography was not the only sociological shift; it was happening in the arts, politics and society in general. Although I don't know how true his stories are, the book appears to be written by someone who "was there" and is honest about his feelings both good and bad--and terrified--while working in the business. It is, however, an odd mix of porn stories followed by a huge diversion mid-way into the lies of a Mob killer.
The biggest problem is the lack of proofreading; I don't understand how an intelligent person can let a book full of misspellings, endless punctuation mistakes and poor diction allow his name to be attached to it. This is a very well written, fact filled book. It combines excellent research with first person anecdotes. No where else will you find information on the seedy underbelly of the porn trade.
